She stared out the window, looking at the city below, trying to quell the rising tide of unease. He turned to face the trainee, Michael. This was the moment. The reality.

"The first thing is… the workflow," explained Sandra. Her tone was flat. She ran through the steps, her voice devoid of its usual energy. It felt forced, artificial. Her stomach had a constant feeling of unease.

Michael was eager, asking questions, his eagerness was both admirable and unsettling. It was the future, she knew. She just wasn't sure if she was ready. She found herself talking faster, trying to get through it as quickly as possible, to find the quiet of her empty apartment.
