Gemotions

He backed away, as if physically repelled by the empty space. His breath came in shallow, ragged gasps. The setting sun painted the sky in streaks of orange and purple, a beautiful but somehow mocking display. He struggled to maintain a calm facade, though the panic was clawing at the surface.

"Where is it?" he whispered to himself. His palms were slick with perspiration. The thought of confronting the situation alone filled him with dread. He had a sudden, overwhelming urge to run, to disappear.
