Gemotions

He found them tucked away in the back of the linen closet: a series of notebooks, each filled with his handwriting, his thoughts, his dreams from adolescence. David stood frozen, the harsh fluorescent light of the closet reflecting off his wide eyes.

The past seemed to press in on him, the ghosts of his younger self whispering in his ears. He started to fidget, unable to stand still. He felt the blood draining from his face. The air grew thin, hard to draw in.

He slammed the closet door shut, the abrupt sound echoing in the silent house. His breath came in shallow pants. He had to get away, to distance himself from the intensity of the discovery.
