The transition to the production department was jarring. Sarah had been in the payroll department for as long as she could remember. The noise of the machinery, the smell of grease, the sheer physical exertion — it was all a shock.

She stood frozen at her new workstation, watching the workers move with practiced ease. She watched her supervisor's instruction with close attention, trying to memorize every step. A knot formed in her stomach and her breath came in short gasps. She clutched her hands tightly in front of her.

Her legs felt shaky, and she struggled to maintain her composure. The unfamiliar environment made her want to run and hide. But, she reminded herself, there was no choice.
