Gemotions

The card was a vibrant splash of colour against the dull grey of the metal mailbox. She felt a prickling sensation on the back of her neck as she plucked it out, a wave of coldness washing over her. She knew this feeling. It was a familiar fear.

She walked back to her apartment, her pace quickening. She barely registered the faces of the people she passed, her focus inward, a desperate search for any clue to the sender. She pushed the door open, slammed it shut, and immediately locked it.

She checked the locks on the windows. Her eyes darted around the room, searching for something out of place, some sign of intrusion. She grabbed her phone, her fingers fumbling with the screen. She wanted to call someone, to hear a familiar voice, to feel less alone.
