The woman across from him, whose name was Sarah, looked at him with an unsettling, even gaze. She'd opened a photo album. The pictures showed the same apartment building, the same dog, the same, shared inside jokes.

He felt the blood rushing to his head. He wanted to shout, to lash out, to deny everything. The carefully constructed world he’d built with "Michael" had crumbled, revealing the cracks in its foundation. The feeling that he had been duped, betrayed, washed over him in a cold wave.
