The delivery person had already left when Jessica saw the package. It sat near the sidewalk, the label smudged by the rain. She knew that the previous owners of the house, a Mr. and Mrs. Peterson, were known for some shady dealings. She shivered, despite the warmth of her car.

She knew she shouldn't. She knew she should just leave it, pretend she hadn't seen it. But the temptation... It was like a physical pull. She got out of the car, slowly, cautiously.

She picked it up, feeling it's heaviness. The wind seemed to pick up. She had to take it inside. She had to find out.
