Gemotions

The old yearbook, its pages worn and faded, lay open on his lap. He flipped through the photographs, searching for her face. He found her, smiling back at him, a ghost from the past. He visited her, his heart heavy. She looked at him with a strange expression. "I’m sorry, but I don’t remember."

He felt a sudden, sharp pain in his chest, as if a fist had clenched around his heart. He gasped for air, his breath coming in ragged gasps. The room began to blur, the images in the yearbook swimming before his eyes. He rose from his chair, his legs shaky.

He stumbled backwards, reaching for the door. The sound of her voice, calling after him, seemed to fade into the distance. The memories, once vivid and clear, now felt like a fragile, broken glass.
