Gemotions

The harsh fluorescent lights of the pawn shop seemed to intensify the shadows. She felt her chest tighten, making it difficult to breathe. The ring, displayed under glass, seemed to mock her, a glittering reminder of what was and what would never be again.

Her legs felt shaky, as if they might give way. She clenched her fists, trying to find some semblance of control. She could feel the blood rushing in her ears, drowning out all other sounds.

The shop owner's gaze was fixed on her, unwavering. He waited, his expression unreadable. He could see her struggle. His silence was suffocating. She felt as though she could not bear to remain in the presence of that ring another moment.
