Gemotions

A tremor started in his hands, making the chipped mug rattle against the table. He'd been expecting the news, but the finality of it still knocked the wind out of him. He stared at the screen, the blinking cursor mocking him. How was he going to tell his father?

He felt a knot tighten in his stomach, a heavy weight pressing down. He stood, pacing the small apartment. The walls seemed to close in, the air thick and hard to breathe. He ran a hand through his hair, the strands catching on his fingers as if trying to pull him down.

He grabbed his jacket, needing to move, to escape the suffocating silence. The streetlights outside cast an eerie glow, and the passing cars sounded like distant thunder. He needed to get away, even if it was just for a little while. His legs felt shaky as he stepped outside.
