He’d always considered himself unflappable, but the news left him shaking. He had built his life on this company. Now, everything felt unstable. A cold sweat broke out on his forehead.

He excused himself from the meeting, murmuring something about a headache. He stumbled toward the restroom, the fluorescent lights blurring. He splashed cold water on his face, trying to clear his head, but his reflection stared back at him, pale and drawn.

He leaned against the cold tiles, unable to move. The future, once a stable path, had dissolved into a fog. He squeezed his eyes shut. What would he do?
