Gemotions

The steel doors slammed shut with a clang that echoed in the confined space, making Maya jump. Her heart leaped into her throat. She fumbled for the button again, though she knew it wouldn't work. Beside her, Mark let out a low whistle.

The fluorescent lights flickered, casting the interior in an unsettling strobe. Maya felt a prickling sensation on her skin, as if a thousand tiny insects were crawling there. She clutched her handbag tighter, fingers digging into the leather.

“Well, this is… great,” Mark said, his voice a little too loud. Maya swallowed, trying to force the lump down. Three hours. She couldn't breathe.
