Gemotions

The gleam of the telescope, once a source of wonder, now held a hint of menace. The vastness of the night sky, once a comfort, now seemed to amplify her worries. Her daughter, Chloe, had taken up stargazing with a fierce determination that made her blood run cold. Chloe was talking of astrophotography and mapping new constellations, while her mother watched her, her heart racing.

She found herself avoiding the window, unable to bear the sight of the dark expanse, the endless possibilities. The thought of her daughter, alone in the darkness, filled her with a nameless dread.

Chloe called out to her, her voice echoing in the quiet house. “Mom, come see! I think I found a new nebula!” She hesitated, then, took a deep breath, and slowly made her way towards the telescope, a reluctant and tentative step.
