He felt a sudden compulsion to delete everything, to erase his digital footprint. He locked his social media accounts, blocking all his followers. The sound of his own breathing became loud and frantic in his ears.

He switched off his phone, threw it onto the table. He felt exposed, vulnerable. He wanted to change his number, move, disappear. He slumped down onto the sofa, the silence of the room amplifying his anxiety.
