The shared history, the years that had passed since their time at Camp Eagle Ridge, suddenly felt close. The air between them crackled with unspoken tension. "Wasn't that… you?" Karen asked, her voice quiet, almost a whisper. James found himself unable to breathe. He felt the world narrowing, closing in. The walls of the office seemed to press closer, constricting him. He felt an overwhelming urge to bolt, to escape the scrutiny, the memory, the past that was now colliding with the present. He forced a laugh that sounded hollow, and took a large step back.
