Gemotions

The moment the words left her best friend’s mouth, the room seemed to tilt. Emily felt a sudden chill, despite the warm spring air. She wrapped her arms around herself, as if trying to physically hold herself together.

She struggled to find the right words, but they wouldn't come. Her mouth felt dry, her tongue thick. She could barely manage to make eye contact.

She wished she had the power to make this all a dream, to rewind time. Her breathing became shallow and rapid. She didn't want this to be real.
