The silence of the antique shop pressed in on Amelia. Her brother, Jasper, had been thrilled with his inheritance – a collection of vintage cars. She, however, felt a tightening in her chest as she examined the delicate porcelain doll she had received.

She picked it up, her fingers tracing the painted features of its face. The doll's unblinking stare felt unnervingly fixed. The air grew still, the sun outside seemed to dim.

"What do you think of yours, Amelia?" Jasper’s voice cut through the stillness. He stood with his arms crossed, his expression expectant. She wanted to run.
