The headline’s bright colors assaulted her eyes. “Dream Home Opportunity!” Her hands were suddenly clammy. Her throat felt constricted.

She moved her mouse to the first picture. The front porch, the same porch she used to sit on. The porch looked smaller, and somehow, the world was too.

A shiver raced down her spine. The house, her house, looked… sterile. Empty. Like a shell.

She pressed her palms together, as if in prayer, though there was nothing she could pray for. She felt utterly exposed, vulnerable.

She took a shaky breath, then another, trying to steady herself. The feeling in her chest wouldn't go away.
