The email sat in Amelia's inbox, bold and accusing. A relative of her father had discovered something, a secret they considered too important to keep. Amelia's hands, usually steady when she typed code, trembled as she clicked the link. Her stomach did a sickening flip.

The photograph showed a woman she’d never seen before, smiling into the camera with an uncanny resemblance to her own father. Beneath it, a brief message: "Meet your half-sister, Sarah." Amelia felt a chill creep up her spine, even though the room was warm. She took a shaky breath, then closed the laptop, the image burned into her eyelids. She needed a drink.
