Gemotions

The gleaming new fence, impossibly high, felt like a wall separating him from the world. He ran his hand over the rough wood of his own, dilapidated fence. He felt a sudden, visceral anger, a raw, burning resentment.

The laughter from next door, filtered through the barrier, seemed to mock him. He slammed his fist against his chest, a futile attempt to quell the rising tide of… something. He couldn't name it.

He began pacing his small yard, his steps erratic, his breath coming in short, shallow gasps. The sky seemed too vast, the world too big. He felt trapped, cornered. The world had just shrunk.
