Gemotions

He hadn't been to sleep well since the notice arrived. The constant thump of his heartbeat echoed in his ears. The fence... it meant something dark, something he couldn't name, but knew instinctively.

He started listening to the wind, imagining how it would sound against the new wall. He tried to think of his favorite things, the things that made him happy, but his thoughts kept returning to the growing barrier.

His stomach clenched. The laughter of children, the sounds of the birds – all of it now seemed muted, as if filtered through a heavy, oppressive silence. He was trapped.
