The bustling train station was a blur of noise and movement, a symphony of anonymous faces. He pulled his jacket tighter, as if to ward off a chill. He felt utterly alone, lost in the throng.

He saw her across the platform, her face pale, her gaze fixed on the tracks. Her hands were clasped so tightly they were almost white. Her expression, mirroring his own inner turmoil, was instantly recognizable.

She looked up at him, a flicker of acknowledgement in her eyes. He averted his gaze, a sudden feeling of being overwhelmed seizing him. He felt his hands begin to sweat.
