He had seen it on her tablet, when she was out. His heart thudded in his ears. The book was a veiled version of their relationship, but it held a dark twist. He had always known he was the 'bad guy,' but to read it, in her words, was a blow. He felt disoriented.

The descriptions of him, so visceral and cutting, made him want to flee. Each sentence felt like a punch. He stared at the screen, unable to breathe deeply.

A notification popped up, and his name flashed on the screen. He panicked, grabbing the tablet.
