The notepad had slipped out of his jacket pocket. "Learn to play the guitar." "Become a chef." "Move to a cottage by the sea." He couldn't seem to get his hands to stop shaking. James stared down at the list, the paper fluttering slightly in the breeze.

The world tilted and shifted. The park benches, the trees, all seemed to blur at the edges. A wave of dizziness rolled over him. He felt like he was falling.

He sat down heavily, the list clutched in his hand. He suddenly felt exposed, raw. He felt something very, very unpleasant.
