Gemotions

The announcement had come, and the world seemed to have tilted on its axis. He stood in the doorway, staring at the mail slot, his shoulders slumped. The building, his home, was going condo.

His throat constricted. He found himself avoiding his neighbors, unable to meet their eyes. He skipped the gym and stayed inside. He stared out the window, his gaze fixed on the street below. He felt a constant pressure in his chest.

He took a long, shaky breath. He felt utterly exposed, vulnerable. The thought of change, of an unknown future, made him want to hide.
