The email shimmered on her phone screen, the subject line a malevolent little thing: "Your Essay Featured!" Amelia's breath hitched, the air suddenly thick and hard to draw. She squeezed the phone so tightly her knuckles whitened. The announcement, a cheerful greeting from her dream university's admissions office, felt like a trap.

She scrolled down, her stomach twisting. There it was: her words, her deeply personal reflections on her grandmother, her struggles, her aspirations, laid bare for everyone. The words seemed to mock her, silent echoes in the vast digital expanse. She imagined students reading it, dissecting it, judging it. A wave of nausea rolled over her.
