The back of Leo's neck prickled with an unsettling sensation. He recognized the delicate floral design immediately. His grandmother’s ring. He’d last seen it on her finger, moments before… He stopped the thought. The air in the shop felt thick, heavy, pressing down on him.

"You like it?" The shop owner’s voice sliced through his thoughts. Leo felt a surge of unease, a tightening in his jaw. His hands clenched into fists.

“Yes,” he said, the word a strained rasp. He could barely focus on the ring, his mind reeling. He felt exposed, vulnerable.
