Gemotions

The greenhouse was silent, the air heavy with humidity and the scent of blooming flowers. Elara usually found Mrs. Gable there, tending her orchids and sharing her knowledge of botany. But today, the greenhouse was empty. The orchids, usually vibrant, seemed muted in the absence of her care.

She approached the potting table, where a small note was propped against a watering can. It read, "Gone. Thank you for everything." Elara felt a tremor in her hands. She ran her fingers across the note, the paper thin and fragile. Where had she gone? Why hadn’t she said anything? Her breath caught in her throat, a cold wave washing over her.
