It had been three days since the job interviews, and Mark was still replaying every conversation, every question, every answer. He tossed and turned, the crisp sheets twisting around him. He remembered the smug look on Ben’s face when they’d left the building. The casual handshake, the confident “Good luck, buddy.” The memory burned. Mark punched his pillow, a frustrated growl escaping his lips. He was in deep trouble if Ben was hired. His whole financial future hung in the balance.
