Gemotions

A knot formed in David's stomach as he surveyed the stacks of carefully-labeled folders. They were all his. Handwritten essays, science projects, even the awkward sketches he'd made in art class. He’d found them tucked away in the guest room closet. He ran a hand through his hair, a wave of disquiet washing over him.

He felt a sudden pressure behind his eyes. He sat down heavily on the floor, the mundane details of his childhood life spread out around him like an unwanted confession.

He got up and began to pace the room, the silence amplified by the unsettling nature of the revelation.
