The invitation card, so meticulously designed, sat heavy in her trembling hand. It was supposed to be a joyous occasion, a milestone marked with the warmth of friends and family. A voice in her head whispered that everything was going wrong. The confirmation message from the party organizer was terse and devastating. “Circumstances necessitate cancellation.”

She instinctively clutched the card tighter, as though to physically prevent the words from taking root. Her breath hitched in her throat. The thought of all the effort, the anticipation, the joy…was it all for nothing? She felt a desperate need to flee, to escape the crushing weight of disappointment that settled upon her.
