Gemotions

"Hello?" David called out, his voice barely a whisper. The attic was a cavern of shadows, filled with forgotten treasures and dust. He'd been expecting storage boxes, not this.

He stumbled upon a stack of old newspapers, brittle and yellowed. He picked one up, his fingers trembling slightly. The headlines spoke of events long past, names and places he didn't recognize.

His throat felt dry. He felt a deep sense of wrongness, an unspoken discomfort. He quickly placed the paper back on the pile, the need to get out of the attic becoming overwhelming. He turned to leave, his legs feeling heavy and leaden.
