The card felt wrong in his hand. The message was saccharine and bland: "Have a wonderful day!" But there was something about the anonymous nature of it that set Leo's teeth on edge. He stood in the driveway, the sun warm on his face, but he felt a distinct chill.

He glanced at his neighbor's house, then at the street, a slow, deliberate survey. The card seemed to amplify every sound, every movement. The rustling leaves, the distant hum of a car – all seemed to take on a sinister tone.

He retreated inside, shutting the door behind him with a sharp click. The silence in the house was almost deafening. His heart was hammering against his ribs. He wanted to throw the card away, but he was afraid to touch it.
