"Let's just get this over with," Michael said to his sister, Jessica.

Jessica nodded, her face pale. She'd been dreading this. The house held too many memories, too many ghosts.

She stared out of the living room window, her heart racing. The overgrown garden looked menacing, the branches of the ancient trees scratching against the glass.

Michael was already moving through the house, opening windows, and moving things. She started to follow him, but then hesitated. A strange feeling washed over her, a premonition of something terrible. She closed her eyes, trying to block out the sensation, but the house's heavy silence offered no comfort.
