She stared, unblinking, at the magazine spread. “Chef Bella’s Balsamic Glaze.” Her recipe. The one she’d painstakingly developed for her small catering business. The one she’d shared with her former business partner.

A bitter taste filled her mouth. She dropped the magazine, the slick pages scattering across her coffee table. Her chest tightened, and she felt a pressure building behind her eyes. Betrayal, pure and simple, swirled through her.

She rose and began pacing. Her hands flew to her hair, pulling at the strands. This was a nightmare. This couldn't be happening. But there it was, in glossy color, her creation.
