Gemotions

"The old quilt," my mother said, her voice unusually subdued, as she sat across the kitchen table from me. Her eyes were fixed on the patterned fabric draped over the back of the chair. It was a family heirloom, passed down through generations.

I sat back, feeling a wave of nausea wash over me. The quilt, with its intricate stitching, held memories of countless family gatherings, picnics, and bedtime stories. Her words had a physical impact.
