Gemotions

"Oh, no," mumbled Evelyn, her voice barely audible. Her hands flew to her mouth as she saw the familiar sight of the dachshund wiggling under the loose section of the fence. Her blood seemed to run cold. He was going after the chickens again.

She ran out the back door, the screen door slamming behind her. The chickens were her pride and joy. She'd raised them from tiny chicks, hand-feeding them and giving them names. Now, they were in mortal danger. She had to get there before it was too late.

"Go away, you little…!" she began, but stopped herself. There was no point in swearing. She had to act fast, before the little dog could start his chase. She waved her arms, hoping to scare him.
