Gemotions

The scraping sound against the fence made Sarah jump. She nearly dropped her phone, her fingers fumbling on the screen. She slowly turned and saw the border collie, Scout, trying to squeeze under. She felt a sudden, sharp pain in her chest.

She just finished planting her tomato plants. She'd been waiting for this all year. The thought of those plants being trampled filled her with dismay. She felt a surge of helplessness.

She marched towards the fence, her hands clenched into fists, ready for a confrontation. She knew she shouldn't have to do this. This should not be happening.
