The coffee cup trembled in her hand, the hot liquid threatening to spill. The article displayed the side-by-side text, her words on one side, her literary idol's on the other. A knot tightened in her throat, making it difficult to swallow. Each sentence matched. Word for word. It was a twisted reflection of her own work.

She quickly shut the laptop, the screen going black. Darkness. The room was suddenly too bright, the sunlight too harsh. She stood up abruptly, knocking over her chair. It clattered to the floor, echoing in the sudden silence.

She felt a desperate need to escape the confines of her small apartment, the suffocating presence of her betrayal. She grabbed her keys and rushed out, not bothering to lock the door behind her.
