Gemotions

The world tilted. He read and reread the comparison, his head feeling light and dizzy. The evidence was irrefutable. His story, the one he'd poured his heart into, the one that meant everything to him, had been stolen. He was suddenly aware of the rapid thrum of his pulse in his ears.

He went to the window, needing air, but the city outside blurred into an indistinct mess of gray. His throat was dry. He swallowed, struggling to get moisture in. He felt a sudden, powerful urge to scream, to lash out, but the words wouldn't come.

He slumped against the wall, his knees weak. The air in the room felt heavy, thick, suffocating. He felt as though he was drowning in a sea of disappointment.
