The news arrived in a text message: "Party at the arcade Saturday night!" It was the same night as Daniel's quiet stargazing gathering. He felt his face grow hot as he reread the message from his friend, Michael. He’d carefully chosen the location, the telescopes, everything was in place for a serene and unique experience.

He felt a sudden, intense pressure in his chest, as if someone was sitting on it. He slumped into a chair. The planned evening, once a source of excitement, now seemed doomed.
