“Hey, did you notice Ms. Johnson followed you back?” Mark’s friend asked casually. Mark felt his stomach drop. He had liked her hiking posts, and she seemed cool. He’d made a few jokes. Maybe they were too edgy. He logged in, his breathing shallow.

He saw her name, right there. He felt the blood drain from his face. His carefully constructed online persona suddenly felt fragile, vulnerable. He was suddenly aware of his history of posting.

He abruptly stopped walking and leaned against a wall, his legs suddenly feeling weak. He felt a sudden, profound sense of discomfort. The world spun for a moment. He just felt... wrong.
