Gemotions

The scent of lavender, faint but persistent, clung to the paper. James stared at the letter, its edges softened with age. He felt a shiver run down his spine. It was addressed to his wife, years before they had met. The handwriting was his own, almost unrecognizable.

The letter spoke of a life he did not remember, of dreams he had long forgotten. Inside, he read the words of a man struggling to find his place in the world. He felt disoriented. It was filled with fears that he hadn't known he possessed.

He ran a hand through his hair, suddenly feeling an unwelcome flush of heat on his face. The room felt suddenly oppressive, the walls closing in. He needed to get out, he needed air, now!
