He froze, his fingers still hovering over the "send" button. The message: “Come on over, the drinks are already chilled” was addressed to… *the CEO of the company*! John’s heart began to hammer erratically. He was in a state.

He quickly deleted the text, but the damage was already done. He imagined the CEO’s reaction: his raised eyebrows, the faint smirk, the uncomfortable silence in the next board meeting. He felt the blood drain from his face.
