He hadn't been to the observatory in years, not since his wife had passed away. Now, his son, Finn, spent every clear night there, staring up at the stars. It was exactly what he had done years ago. He felt a sense of dread pooling in his stomach.

He was the one who had taught Finn everything he knew about the constellations. He'd shown him the planets, explained the celestial mechanics. Now, Finn was surpassing him, absorbing information and understanding the cosmos in a way he never had.

"Finn, have you… have you seen anything interesting tonight?" he asked, his voice hesitant. Finn looked up, his eyes bright with the reflected light of the telescope. "Dad, I think I've found a new nebula."
