Gemotions

The afternoon sun blazed through the window, but the office felt cold. He was sweating, despite the chill in the air conditioning. He knew he'd been working harder, staying later, doing everything he could.

He watched his colleague, Rachel, laughing with the boss in the hallway. A sharp pang of something, like a physical pain, shot through him.

He slammed his fist on his desk, then instantly regretted it, glancing around to make sure no one had noticed. He tried to take a slow, deep breath.
