The letter arrived during a staff meeting, disrupting the flow of the presentation. David, the CEO, excused himself, the room of hushed silence closing in as he returned to his office. He ripped open the envelope, a sleek white rectangle, his signature on the return address. It was a lawyer's letter, informing him of a child he had never known.

David sank into his leather chair, the luxurious comfort suddenly failing to soothe. He reread the letter, the words blurring before his eyes.
