The press release had landed in his inbox that morning, a blandly worded announcement about a "surprise exhibit" showcasing emerging talent. He'd skimmed it, assuming it was spam. Now, standing before the vast, glittering chandelier, he could barely breathe. His sketches, his private, vulnerable musings, were blown up and plastered across the polished mahogany panels.

Sweat prickled on his forehead. He ran a hand through his hair, dislodging a strand. He felt the blood draining from his face. His carefully constructed life, a fragile house of cards, threatened to collapse.

He backed away, bumping into a sculpture.
