Gemotions

The clinking of crystal glasses drifted through the open window. It was a Saturday night, and normally, the sounds of his neighbor’s parties were background noise. Tonight, however, it grated on his nerves. He felt a sudden, sharp pang of inadequacy.

He slammed the window shut, the sound echoing in the otherwise quiet room. He crossed his arms, staring at the darkened window. He hadn't realized. He had, perhaps, underestimated them.

He felt a restlessness begin to creep in, making it impossible to relax. He switched the TV on, hoping the noise would distract him. He switched it off again a moment later, finding it useless.
