Gemotions

"What in the world…?" Leo muttered, staring at the small, rusted box unearthed from his backyard. His hands, usually steady, trembled as he gently pried open the lid. Inside, he found a collection of his old childhood toys and a letter addressed to him, in his own handwriting. But he had no memory of writing it.

He reread the letter, the words blurring before his eyes. It spoke of hopes and dreams he no longer possessed. A wave of nausea hit him, his stomach churning. He backed away from the box, his breath hitching. He should throw it back in the ground, forget about it. He felt an intense need to disappear, to outrun some unknown shadow.
